My Love Won't Let You Down

Written by Jack Cooper, © 2001, Socan

Ken and I spent the early part of the year 2001 engaged in a process known as"Pre-Production". Part of this process involved poking, prodding, deconstructing, reconstructing, reinventing, venting, fine-tuning, ranting over and occasionally whining about the songs. Some of the songs required little energy and effort to prepare for recording. Other songs required a bit more fuss before they were ready to be recorded. This song was one of those. Part of the challenge was that the subject matter and approach of the song were a bit more personal than that of most of the other songs.

Lyrics

I hear you say to me
You're so damned tired of this world
They make you jump, scream and shout
Just to make yourself be heard

But I love your gentle grace
The way you move through time and space
Your dignity they can't erase
Hush now, don't you make a sound
Just take my hand and turn around
My love won't let you down

I hear them say to you
You've got to learn to compete
If you don't put up a fight
Your life will never be complete

In a world that's deaf and blind
Where everyone's made up their mind
Just try to leave them all behind
Hush now, don't you make a sound
Just take my hand and turn around
My love won't let you down

Hush now, don't you make a sound
Just take my hand and turn around
My love won't let you down
My love won't let you down
My love won't let you down
